For most people adding the name of where they live on Facebook is relatively straightforward. A problem, however, arises when the place where you live is branded as offensive by the social networking site. One woman from Effin in County Limerick in the Irish Republic has so far been unable to add the village name to the 'home place' section of her Facebook profile.

Ann Marie Kennedy, who works in the department of nursing and midwifery at the University of Limerick, has now started an online campaign to to get Effin recognised. "I was born and raised in Effin and my family come from here," she said. "I am also directing a play, 'Effin Cinderella' this Christmas.
"I would like to be able to put Effin on my profile page and so would many other Effin people around the world to proudly say that they are from Effin, County Limerick, but it won't recognise that," she added. "It just won't let me add it. It just keeps giving suggestions such as Effingham, Illinois; Effingham, New Hampshire."

She said: "I'm a proud Effin woman and I always will be an Effin woman." The 47-year-old Effin native has now started an online campaign, although an attempt to set up a Facebook page called 'Please get my hometown Effin recognised' was also unsuccessful. "It came up with an error message that it was 'offensive'," she said.

Tens of thousands of women with breast implants are being urged to have medical check-ups amid fears they are at heightened risk of cancer.
The safety alert follows the death of a French woman who had implants filled with silicone gel believed to have been made for mattresses.
Up to 50,000 British women – including some breast cancer survivors – have the French-made implants, which are fragile and more likely to leak than other brands.

Edwige Ligoneche was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer two years after having breast surgery using a French-made silicone gel.

Five years ago, at the urging of his parents, who worried that he could be tried as an adult and receive a long prison sentence,15-year-old Edgar Coker Jr. pleaded guilty to raping a 14-year-old friend. Two months later, the girl admitted that the sex was consensual and that she had lied to avoid trouble with her father. The Washington Post reports that Coker nevertheless ended up serving 17 months in juvenile detention and is still listed as a violent sex offender by the state of Virginia:

Last month, Coker, now 20, was arrested during a Friday night football game at the Orange, Va., high school he graduated from after his release from juvenile prison. Unless they have permission from the school, convicted violent sex offenders are not permitted on school grounds. But Coker had received such permission, and he attended school there for more than a year before graduation....
The family has moved several times, twice because of complaints from neighbors who learned that Edgar Coker Jr. was on the registry. Once, a neighborhood girl made a false sexual allegation against one of his brothers, and someone else left this note on their door when they lived in Stafford County: “We don't want a rapist living in our neighborhood.”

Seeking to remove this stigma, Coker's family argues that his legal representation was inadequate. But as the Post notes, "Undoing what’s been done is difficult. Coker’s attorneys are aware of very few instances of a person’s name being removed from the state’s sex-offender registry."

We were just informed today that our technical problems are finally going to be addressed shortly.
The holidays and a mutual friend's wedding have taken all the 'spare' time our tech guru has had away from his paying gig.
But now that the holidays have been over and with the friend married off yesterday, he can now look into sloving the issue.

Well, that is if his wife will let him that is - she has been a royal bitch for a year now about everything and anything when she hasn't been the center of everyone's full and undivided attention (even at the wedding she pitched a fit because her hair wasn't fixed first by the stylist doing the wedding party's hair ... and here I always thought it was the Bride who was center of attention on her wedding day, but apparently not).

So we wait patiently for the good news.
And we what to thank our reader Jimbo for the encouraging comments throughout this time of trials and tribulations with the hardware difficulties.

Sorry, for the long delay folks but the technical issues we have been facing are very real (to those that think otherwise) and our IT guys are working on them as they can gratis so we can not complain - it's not everyone that can have free tech work now is it?!

We will be up and running before Spring provided Spring doesn't arrive in February (again to the negative persons out in cyber-space).

We have had a meltdown in the hardware of the mainframe used to post to this had her sister blog.

This week, we learned that our economy added another 140,000 private sector jobs in November. Despite some strong headwinds this year, America’s economy has now created private sector jobs for the past 21 months in a row – almost three million new jobs in all, more than half a million of them in the past four months alone.
We need to keep this growth going and strengthen it. That’s why we’ve been fighting to pass a series of jobs bills through Congress – bills that independent economists say will create more jobs and grow the economy even faster. Because now is the time to step on the gas, not slam on the brakes.
Unfortunately, too many Republicans in Congress don’t seem to share that same sense of urgency. Over the last few months, they’ve said “no” to most of these jobs bills. “No” to putting teachers and firefighters back to work. “No” to putting construction workers back on the job. And this week, they actually said “no” to cutting taxes for middle-class families.
You see, last year, both parties came together to cut payroll taxes for the typical middle-class family by about $1,000. But that tax cut is set to expire at the end of this month. If that happens, that same family will see its taxes go up by $1,000. We can’t let that happen. In fact, I think we should cut taxes on working families and small business owners even more.
And we’re going to keep pushing Congress to make this happen. They shouldn’t go home for the holidays until they get this done. And if you agree with me, I could use your help.
We’ve set up a simple tax cut calculator on WhiteHouse.gov so that you can see exactly what the stakes are for your family. Try it out. Then let your members of Congress know where you stand.
Tell them not to vote to raise taxes on working Americans during the holidays. Tell them to put country before party. Put money back in the pockets of working Americans. Pass these tax cuts.
We’re all in this together. The more Americans succeed, the more America succeeds. And if we remember that and do what it takes to keep this economy growing and opportunity rising, then I’m confident that we’ll come out of this stronger than before.

A proposal to make Los Angeles porn actors wear condoms gained momentum this week, when a health advocacy group announced it had gathered enough signatures to put the question to voters in June.

The proposal would require the actors to use protection during sex scenes in order for filmmakers to obtain a permit to shoot within the city of Los Angeles.

The AIDS Healthcare Foundation, the group behind the drive, said Wednesday it has collected 64,000 signatures for its petition -- well beyond the 41,000 needed to get the measure on the ballot.

"Everyone understood this was an issue of worker protection," Michael Weinstein [pictured], the president of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, told The Los Angeles Times.

Tensions between health advocates and the porn industry have simmered for years. The adult film industry largely opposes more condom regulations, saying voluntary industry standards requiring actors to undergo monthly HIV screenings are enough protection.

Pornographers also say porn viewers generally find sheathed penises less appealing than naked ones on screen and that added government regulation would undermine their industry even as it faces the combined pressures of rampant Internet piracy and economic malaise, The Los Angeles Times reports.

"Contrary to popular belief, our industry is not recession-proof," Diane Duke, executive director of the Free Speech Coalition, a porn industry group, told the newspaper.

AIDS activists aren't the only ones trying to boost the porn industry's hygiene standards -- state officials are also looking at ways to force porn actors to suit up.

California regulators first passed rules requiring protection for workers exposed to infectious diseases transferred through blood in 1992. State regulators say the rules, developed with medical facilities in mind, apply to the porn industry.

"The regulations require that the employer use controls to protect workers from blood or semen or vaginal secretions. Federal OSHA has the same wording," Deborah Gold of the California's Division of Occupational Safety and Health said in an interview last year with Los Angeles Weekly.

But the regulations are rarely enforced. Between 2004, after a performer tested HIV positive, and 2010, the state issued only 30 citations for condomless sex filming, Los Angeles Weekly reports.

Public health officials cited 17 HIV cases among porn actors between 1998 and 2008, according to the Los Angeles Times reports. The industry has halted production twice in the last two years to prevent the spread of the disease after two performers tested HIV-positive.

Los Angeles serves as a major base of operations for the U.S. porn industry. The only two states where porn can be filmed legally are California and New Hampshire.

A New York psychiatrist testified Friday that Felicia Lee died from taking too much GHB, not from being smothered to death.

A psychiatrist who specializes in substance abuse was called to the witness stand by Brian Lee Randone's attorneys to testify that Felicia Lee died of an overdose of GHB, not from being smothered to death.

Dr. David McDowell, a New York psychiatrist who has studied and written about the effects of "club drugs" like GHB, said Friday that he had "no doubt" that Lee died from ingesting too much GHB, commonly known as the date rape drug.

"The facts are absolutely clear in my mind," McDowell told Ed Rucker, one of Randone's two attorneys.

"There's no doubt in my mind that a GHB overdose is the cause of death in this case."

Asked to explain his opinion, McDowell said the high level of the drug found in Lee coupled with the 31-year-old's "reckless" history of drug abuse points toward GHB as the cause of death. He also noted that the behavior described in the 9-11 call placed by Randone, where he told dispatchers that Lee was flailing around before she stopped breathing, matches classic signs of GHB overdose.

"If I had to write a script about someone having a GHB overdose, it would include all those elements," McDowell said.

McDowell's opinion contradicted the testimony of the medical examiner who performed Lee's autopsy. Dr. Ajay Panchal of the Los Angeles Department of Coroner ruled Lee's cause of death as "asphyxia by smothering." He said the abrasions on Lee's face and inside her mouth indicated that she had been forcibly smothered to death.

Randone is charged with one count of murder and one count of torture for allegedly beating and smothering Lee to death in Monrovia in 2009. The torture count stems from the more than 300 blunt force trauma wounds found on Lee's body at the time of her death. Randone's attorneys argue that the wounds were caused while Lee was flailing around during a GHB overdose.

Prosecutor Philip Wojdak may recall his own expert witness next week to rebut McDowell's testimony, he told Superior Court Judge Dorothy Shubin. That witness, Dr. Cyrus Rangan, the director of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health's Bureau of Toxicology, said on the witness stand that it was impossible to determine if someone had ingested a lethal amount of GHB because the drug affects everyone differently.

The amount of GHB found in Lee's body has killed some people and merely sedated others, Rangan said.

The U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation has called a hearing for Dec. 8 to discuss ICANN's plans to open up the application process for new generic top-level domains in mid January.

"This hearing will examine the merits and implications of this new program and ICANN's continuing efforts to address concerns raised by the Internet community," read a post on the committee's website.

ICANN's plan, which will allow parties to apply to become the registrar of top-level domains of their own creation, has come under fire recently from the Association of National Advertisers, among other trade groups and brands.

The ANA claims that the creation of hundreds of new generic TLDs will burden businesses of all sizes, forcing them to defensively purchase countless domains with all types of iterations of their brand names. The organization also asserts that the program would spur an increase in cyber squatting and other online malfeasance.

"We believe the steps taken by ICANN so far don't adequately meet the concerns raised about this issue," said Dan Jaffe, ANA's exec VP-government relations.

"This is clearly an issue Congress thinks is important enough to discuss further."

An ICANN representative didn't immediately respond to email and phone requests for comment.

Separately, two adult-entertainment businesses have recently filed an antitrust lawsuit against ICANN and ICM Registry over the launch of a new .XXX domain registry, which ICM operates.

The suit, filed by Manwin Licensing and Digital Playground, alleges that ICANN awarded the domain to ICM without fair competition and that registrations of .XXX domain names will be cost-prohibitive for their businesses as well as other types of entities that will be inclined to register .XXX names to defend against unwanted associations with, for example, their universities, brands or products.

"This could cost Manwin tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of dollars," said Kevin Gaut, a partner with Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp, which is representing Manwin.

In a statement, Stuart Lawley, CEO of ICM Registry, said: "We are certain the claims are baseless and will vigorously defend this matter. ICM Registry has been working on the development of this TLD for more than 10 years and has taken extensive measures to ensure it is being launched in the most lawful and responsible way possible. Perhaps Manwin has filed this lawsuit because they are worried that ICM Registry is creating opportunities for others in the adult industry to finally have a fair chance to build great brands and businesses in this new .xxx space."

Absurd McMaster study demonizes breasts, beauty and women

Most women are vicious when confronted with other women they perceive as sexy, a recent University of Ottawa/McMaster study concluded, and of course, the press went to town with it. The kindest slant I can put on this is that editors thought this was breaking news, given that we women are pretty nice.
The most negative slant is that everyone time-traveled back to 1952, when men still ran the world and women fought over the scraps. So women hated each other because the only prize worth competing for was male attention and a wedding ring. In that era, “catfights,” “claws” and “bitches” were the demotic for female relationships.
Thanks to feminism, times changed, although not in the mind of two psychology profs, Tracy Vaillancourt and Aanchal Sharma, who devised a sadistic experiment that collected 86 heterosexual female undergraduates at McMaster and tested them for brutality. They paired them in various ways, let them wait in a room together and graded their reactions to another young woman entering the room.
The profs had three “types” of women enter, labeling their bodies and how they dressed as “conservative,” “sexy-thin” and “sexy-fat.” They then graded the subjects according to how “bitchy” they were about the two visitors dressed in boots, mini-skirts and low-V-necked pink T-shirts.
Yes, these were the scientific terms in the study, titled “Intolerance of Sexy Peers” and financed by several federal institutions including the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, plus the University of Ottawa, which I hope is embarrassed, and McMaster, which should not have allowed its students to be humiliated.
Once either of the “sexy” women left the room, 74 per cent of the other women, presumably dressed themselves in baggy crew-neck T-shirts and beige chinos like the “conservative” participant, looked disgusted, rolled their eyes, offered “once-overs” and “death stares”, and said things like, “Her boobs were about to pop out.” They laughed nastily. One had even confronted a “sexy,” saying, “What the f--- is that?” But only 5 per cent were similarly “bitchy” to the plainly dressed woman.
It’s all about the breasts.
In the West, many young women appear in porn mode — flat-ironed hair usually dyed blond, tight clothing, implanted or padded breasts, perhaps inflated lips and Botoxed faces — a look taken from porn films, even if women don’t know this. (I am in debt to a wonderful book, The Porning of America, by two English professors, Carmine Sarracino and Kevin M. Scott, about how porn has taken over popular culture, even regulating our dress.)
Men too are now expected to wax their pubic hair, build six-packs, buy skin products, etc.
I don’t like it — I find male perfection repellent and breasts implants worse than Chinese foot-binding.
I don’t show cleavage myself, but I’m fine with other women’s cleavage. They can sex themselves up to the high seas if they wish to, bloody good for them. I would never resent another woman’s beauty and would not befriend any woman who did.
Although women of an older generation are sometimes embittered and unkind about other women who are beautiful/talented/employed/mothers — I myself am bitterly envious of women who have good nail beds — young women aiming for a university degree are smarter than this.
Feminism has changed us. So who are these nasties the study uncovered?
And where did the profs get the sick idea of presenting three head-to-toe bodies for judging? I ask because I have long sought an ad I saw as a child in the late ’60s in one of my surgeon father’s medical magazines. It said there were three kinds of female patients: thin flat-chested ones with glasses, blonde big-breasted bombshells and in-between women with sensible breasts. I found this weird and cruel even then.
I talked to men about the study. Comparative beacons of sexual sanity, they said they liked sexy women. They liked breasts. Breasts as a concept, breasts in real life, basically all breasts. I do like men, so easily pleased.
And they were puzzled by the alleged female jealousy. They wouldn’t hate another man for having a Lexus. It would be absurd.
“We’re very conflicted in Canada,” about clothes and good looks, one man said. “If you’re smart, people don’t ask you to play dumb. So why should you have to conceal beauty?”
Why indeed? Many things in the study — I profoundly question its methodology — raise red flags. Women use two strategies to win men, the profs write, self-promotion and derogation of rivals. “Self-promotion involves . . . displays of physical attractiveness such as wearing makeup and form-fitting clothing that are used to attract the attention of males.”
Not true. I wear makeup because it’s pure fun. I wear form-fitting clothes because that is what fashion offers right now. I bet my husband doesn’t want to go out in public with a woman dressed like a bag of diseased walnuts but I haven’t consulted him on this.
When I’m depressed, I wear his sweaters. They’re fabulous sweaters. Why? Because I bought them. I like my good-looking family, male and female, and I’m not dressing them like East Germans because misguided psychology professors are assisting in the demonizing of sexual beauty.
They have misunderstood SlutWalk, in which women around the world this year proudly marched in whatever clothes they wished, not inviting rape. Sexy clothes are not an invitation to violence. If they’re an invitation to the hatred of other women, it’s news to me.
The study’s apparent absurd message is that a smart woman should daily wear the Full Amish look, lest she be hounded on the street by cat-calling Hamilton undergrads.
If this is the professors’ personal strategy, good luck to them. But for the rest of us, it is a retreat to a long-dead age, a triumph of the drab over the enticing, and we should fight it.

Big Shot Lawyer Gets 15 Years for Making a Young Lad a Sex Slave

The Chester County Lawyer and known philanthropist who traveled to Moscow to find a 12-year-old boy to use as a sex slave for years was sentenced to 15 years in prison Thursday.

A U.S. district judge called 46-year-old Kenneth Schneider of Berwyn a “monster” before putting him behind bars for a decade and a half.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Schneider went to a Moscow ballet school in 1998 and offered to pay for a needy boy’s dance school tuition. The ballet instructors told him of a boy who could no longer pay his board, and Schneider then convinced the 12-year-old boy’s parents that he should live with him in an apartment a few blocks from the Moscow school.

Schneider sexually molested the boy for years while in Moscow and then brought the boy to Philadelphia as well.

“This investigation has exposed the disturbing truth concerning those individuals who believe they can victimize children abroad and not be held accountable in America for their very disturbing actions,” said John Kelleghan, special agent in charge of Homeland Security Investigations in Philadelphia.

The victim, Roman Zavarov, who is now 25, testified against Schneider at the trial, saying that the founder of the Apogee Foundation had oral and/or anal sex with him three to four times a week when he was 14 and 15 years old.

Zavarov is now married and works as a professional ballet dancer in Arizona.

In addition to the 15 years in prison, the judge ordered Schneider to pay $35,000 in restitution for Zavarov’s medical and psychological treatment.

The Great Sex Addiction Epidemic

The Sex Epidemic. Those are the words Newsweek used to headline their article about sexual addiction two weeks ago. While the piece does a decent job of describing hypersexuality -- thereby destroying the ability of those caught red handed to claim sex addiction as a way to get off scot-free -- it discredits itself by being so quick to point to the internet as a main cause of the problem.

The title itself is problematic. The word "epidemic" suggests an illness that is contagious, but there is no data supporting this statement. In fact, there is very little data in the article at all. Chris Lee, its author, prefaces the estimate that over 9 million people could meet the criteria for sex addiction with the statement, "reliable figures for the number of diagnosed sex addicts are difficult to come by." So are there or aren't there millions of sex addicts out there?

In a television interview on Tuesday, Lee confessed to MSNBC news anchor Thomas Roberts that experts still can't seem to agree on what actually classifies someone as a sex addict, though he was quick to point out that everyone who knows anything about its treatment agrees that the internet is responsible for the increase in the as-of-yet undefined problem.
"What is fueling it is the digital era," Lee said, echoing the tone of his article for Newsweek. "Pornography once upon a time used to be the province of dirty bookstores or XXX movie theaters and people had to be really motivated to seek it out, whereas nowadays it's ubiquitous online, it's anonymous, it's available for free."
He elaborates:

You have applications like the smartphone app Grindr, which can enable anonymous gay hookups with just the click of a GPS of your smartphone or the website AshleyMadison.com which is the world's leading married dating website, which advertises affairs guaranteed. So you have America's sexual metabolism revved up to fever pitch, mainly through the information age.
The experts I've spoken to said basically because this is available to so many people, people have become accustomed to using online pornography, and what you do online leads to offline activities. This is a generation that's coming of age and has grown up with unlimited access to pornography, so people know no difference and they develop a tolerance and sort of immunity to hardcore sexualized images and it's sexualizing people in a very strange way. It's changing everyone's social mores in the country.

"Not everyone who looks at a nude image is going to become a sex addict. But the constant exposure is going to trigger people who are susceptible," Dr. David Sack, chief executive of Los Angeles's Promises Treatment Centers, is quoted as saying in the article. But the way Lee is telling it suggests the opposite: sex addiction is a contagious disease that is largely cybernetically transmitted.
This disregard for any evidence renders the article as helpful as those that excuse cheating celebrities as victims of sex addiction. What is this "sex addiction," exactly? Stanton Peele, who blogs for Psychology Today’s blog network described it best in the post Why Anthony Weiner Is Not A Sex Addict:

The definition of addiction (or dependence) according to the American Psychiatric Association diagnostic manual (on which I was an adviser) focuses on the extremity of the negative consequences of a substance involvement. Despite these health, family, legal, job consequences, the addict is still not able to desist. And they try.
Recognizing their behavior is hurting them, they attempt to quit or to cut back, but repeatedly fail at such efforts. Think of gay men who haunt anonymous sexual meeting places, risking life-endangering infections, public embarrassment, and violent assaults. Still, they continue in their addictive pursuit, even as they regret it and may hate themselves for it.

Sex addiction is not giving in to desire. It's the inability to break a sexual pattern that negatively impacts the rest of your life. And while pornography, dating sites, and hookup sites can be abused, are we confusing symptom with cause? (This is entirely anecdotal, but as a recovering alcoholic, I would never blame my problem on the number of bars in my city.)
This isn't the first time such things have been cited as the root of such evils. Pornography in particular seems to have the worst reputation. In Pornography: Beneficial or Detrimental, for Psychology Today’s "The Porn Factor" series, Gad Saad, Ph.D., author of The Evolutionary Bases of Consumption cites a 2009 paper, "Pornography, public acceptance and sex related crime: a review" by Milton Diamond, which reviewed the findings of a large number of studies on the effects of pornography on society.
"Indeed, the data reported and reviewed suggests that the thesis [that pornography is linked to various ills] is myth and, if anything, there is an inverse causal relationship between an increase in pornography and sex crimes," Diamond writes in his conclusion. "Further, considering the findings of studies of community standards and wide spread usage of SEM [sexually explicit material], it is obvious that in local communities as nationally and internationally, porn is available, widely used and felt appropriate for voluntary adult consumption. If there is a consensus against pornography it is in regard to any SEM that involves children or minors in its production or consumption. Lastly we see that objections to erotic materials are often made on the basis of supposed actual, social or moral harm to women. No such cause and effect has been demonstrated with any negative consequence."
Saad then zeroes in on effects on individuals:
Are women who view pornography terrorized beyond redemption? Do they descend into a well of despair and self-doubt about their sexuality? Do men become misogynist monsters upon viewing pornographic material? Do they develop debilitating penis insecurities at the sight of well-endowed male porn actors? Let's see what Gert Martin Hald and Neil M. Malamuth found in their 2008 paper titled "Self-Perceived Effects of Pornographic Consumption". I should mention that Neil Malamuth is a highly regarded scholar of pornography who has often argued for its supposed ill effects. Hence, if there exists a possibility of an a priori bias here, it would be in hoping to find that pornography yields negative consequences.
In their survey of 688 young Danish adults (men = 316; women = 372), Hald and Malamuth found that respondents construed the viewing of hardcore pornography as beneficial to their sex lives, their attitudes towards sex, their perceptions and attitudes towards members of the opposite sex, toward life in general, and over all. The obtained beneficial effects were statistically significant for all but one measure across both sexes. Now here is the kicker: A positive correlation was obtained between the amount of hardcore pornography that was viewed and the impact of the benefits reaped. This positive correlation was found for both sexes. In other words, the more that one watched porn, the stronger the benefits (for both sexes)!
Jason Goldman reported on the Danish study above as well as another one in a post about the effects of pornography on individuals. He cites a 2008 study that surveyed 2000 Croatian men and women between the ages of 18 and 25 to find whether pornography led to unrealistic expectations and lower sexual satisfaction:

They found no group differences in terms of sociodemographics. Paraphilic porn users [individuals who prefer kinky porn] reported significantly higher masturbation frequency and a higher number of lifetime sexual partners. Paraphilic users consumed pornography more extensively as well: 44 percent reported using it three or more hours per week. They also reported higher levels of sexual boredom, greater acceptance of sexual myths, and a higher average score on the sexual compulsiveness scale. The paraphilic group had a greater overlap between the scripts. That is, they thought that great sex and great porn were more similar than those with self-reported preference for vanilla [mainstream] porn.
I'll spare you the complicated path models. Here's the take-home message: pornography use impacted on sexual satisfaction only for the paraphilic [kinky] porn users, but not for the users who preferred vanilla [mainstream] porn. That said, the observed effects were small or marginal.

Then, there is the problem with the term "addiction." Following the 2004 testimony of a Senate subcommittee on the dangers of pornography addiction, Erick Janssen, a researcher at the Kinsey Institute pointed out that there is no evidence that suggests a progression to more and more extreme material among pornography consumers in the same way that drug addicts need more and more of a drug to achieve the same high.
It's worth noting that the American Psychiatric Association, which publishes the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) included a reference to sexual addiction in 1987, which is no longer present in the current version, though the description "distress about a pattern of repeated sexual relationships involving a succession of lovers who are experienced by the individual only as things to be used" can be found under the section "Sexual Disorders Not Otherwise Specified."
Darrel Regier, the vice chair of the DSM-5 (which is due out in 2013) told USA Today last year that sexual addiction "was not at the point where we were ready to call it an addiction."
Of course, that is not to say that a pattern of sexual relationships or abuse of pornographic material that negatively impacts an individual's life doesn't indicate a problem. It simply means the medical profession has not yet arrived at a conclusive way to categorize it, and certainly not decided on what causes it. It is for this reason that it seems irresponsible that a publication like Newsweek would be so quick to print and publicize the notion that sexual addiction is fueled by the information age.

Not all friend requests should be trusted-especially when they come from your unborn babies. A Brazilian ad agency, AGE Isobar, has come up with a novel campaign for their client, Olla condoms. They've created Facebook profiles of the babies guys could have if they don't practice safe sex.
The company actually targeted specific guys' profiles (like poor William Silva, above) and created a fake profile of their hypothetical "jr." version (see William Silva Jr.). Once accepted, Jr. posts an innocent comment about how awesome Olla condoms are on dear old dad's page.
The campaign is called "Unexpected Babies" and it's bound to scare at least a few guys into double-bagging it.
Adfreak, Adweek's industry blog, called the concept "kind of clever…[but] surely against Facebook's usage guidelines."
The blog Adverve had a more philosophical bone to pick with the campaign.
